John Kabanda named among Uganda’s Top 100 of 2024

Bukedde Newspaper named FUTA President John Kabanda among Uganda’s 100 most outstanding people of 2024. The honour recognised a year of building a national federation from the ground up — from Masaka and Jinja to Iganga, Gulu and beyond.

Kabanda formed FUTA with his team so that traders outside Kampala would no longer be spoken for by a city-only association. Under his leadership the federation has become a regular counterpart to government on tax, floods, trade order and market access.

“This recognition is not just for me but for every trader in Uganda who believes in the power of unity,” he said. “It is a reflection of our collective work towards a prosperous future. I promise to continue the fight for unity, better trade practices, and the economic development of our great country.”
