FUTA is led by traders who built the federation after the country was told to speak with one voice. The President’s office is in Kampala; the mandate is national.

President, Federation of Uganda Traders Associations · Named among Uganda’s Top 100 of 2024 by Bukedde Newspaper
Kabanda formed FUTA so that traders outside Kampala would no longer be spoken for by a city association. He has taken the federation to Masaka, Jinja, Iganga, Gulu and beyond, and he remains the public face in negotiations with State House, the Office of the Prime Minister, Finance, KCCA and URA.
His press briefings — including the September 2026 statement that FUTA is ready to work with government on files already signed — are how members hear that their issues have been tabled.

Peter Kasozi
Kasozi helped build FUTA from the EFRIS crisis. He has been the federation’s voice on why URA must consult before new systems, and he stood with the President when FUTA thanked Nation Media Group for giving traders a platform that reached government.
Together with the secretariat, he organises the lists, letters and regional meetings that turn a press statement into a file on a minister’s desk.

The national office sits on the 2nd floor of Park Mpya Mall, Kampala. Officers receive members Monday to Saturday, take inquiries, and prepare the papers that go to government. The President also receives partners here.
